The story of the new Juicy Rolling Glue

“Would you like some glue with that?”

Several years ago we had the bright idea of marketing rolling glue for use in making your own cigars and papers.  We developed this super cool glue dispenser with a fat tip on one side for larger cigars and a thin tip on the other side for smaller cigars and rolling papers.  We named that product the Kingpin Cigar Glue and it did well.  However it didn’t have the mass appeal that would make it the kind of thing that would sell every time a person bought papers or wraps.

Then 2 years ago I was buying some vegetarian sushi from a local restaurant and they handed me soy sauce in a small clear flexible bottle with a replaceable cap.  I took one look at this little dispenser and realized it would work awesome for our glue.  So, I set about contacting every soy sauce factory that made these sorts of things in Japan, Taiwan and China.  I explained to them that I wanted a custom shaped bottle and that I’d be sending them cellulose rolling glue from Spain to fill in the bottles.  They thought I was nuts and most of them blew me off entirely.  However one smaller factory agreed to do it so long as I agreed to pay certain setup charges and a high cleaning cost so they could clean out their machines afterwards to switch back to filling soy sauce.

I then set about designing a longer skinny bottle that would dispense our thick cellulose gum and worked out the molding and tooling for this little flex-bottle.  We sent a ton (literally a ton) of our cellulose gum to the factory and they proceeded to produce the finished item.  

Each bottle has enough glue for about 100 papers or 20 wraps depending on how much you use each time.  The glue itself is totally natural (made out of pure plant cellulose) and has a natural sweet flavor if you lick it but adds no flavor to the finished product.  This glue (also known as vegetable gum) sticks like the dickens but works best if you give it a few minutes to dry (for optimum stickiness). It’s particularly awesome for the new Juicy Natural Wrapomatic product and for any super premium cigarette paper where smokers sometimes lick the natural glue right off the paper.

This product is in an impulse display that should be placed next to the cash register of every smoke shop and Cstore that sells papers or wraps.  It’s a great add-on for consumers and should only retail for $0.40.  Right now it’s on intro sale for $0.15 per bottle (29.95 per 200ct display).  If a retailer said to every customer who bought papers or wraps “would you like some glue with that” they could dramatically increase their per-customer average sale!
